About

Public Capital is a publication series on progressive political economy for the 21st century. Its contributions focus on contemporary debates concerning economic governance in a world plagued by runaway inequality, secular stagnation, and climate breakdown. Alongside description and commentary, it endeavors to offer concrete, evidence-based solutions in the form of local policymaking. Readers can expect monthly contributions with the intention to compile and publish the resulting collection by early 2024.

The series is edited, designed, and managed by the staff of ProGov21, a digital policy library affiliated with the High Road Strategy Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a collection of cutting-edge resources for local elected officials and community advocates, ProGov21's library features prominently in the policy recommendations of each contribution. We hope the two sites can work in concert to stimulate discussion and outline a clear roadmap for local economic prosperity.
